The Indpendant Expert for Human Rights to Sudan: To report and follow up the case of the detention of Rashid

At noon of Tuesday, September 23, 2014, The Nubian activist Rashid Sheikh Eldin Aabach was arrested by the Sudanese security apparatus, after security forces stormed his workplace and his workers were taken hostages. He was then contacted to turn himself in exchange for their release. Rashid remained in detention since then, all detainees held by the security apparatus who were arrested in the same period were released.
There were several testmonies of Rashid exposure to severe systematic torture by beating him using solid sticks on his back focusing the beating on specific areas and keeping him in certain physical positions for long periods of time in addition to being contineously beaten during investigations.
Rashid remains in custody throughout this period in the security detention center near Shandi transport station. His family has not been allowed to visit him, despite two requests for a visit. As well they were not informed of the reasons for the arrest nor any legal charges targeted against him.
Rashid is a Nubain activist for the rights and development issues in the Nubian region and across Sudan. He currently serves as Chairman of the youth Committee Against the Dal and Kajabar Dams.
Rashid is 36 years old and married with two children.
We are signatories of this petition, we demand the immediate stopage of the torture imposed on Rashid and his immediate release or the imdeiate directing legal charges against him to be followed by submiting him to fair and public trial. We also demand security services to present him to an indpendant medical examination and provide him woth needed treatment.
We also call upon the indpendant expert for Human Rights to Sudan to report and follow up the case of the detention of Rashid and apply the needed pressure for his release and to stop his torture.
في ظهيرة يوم الثلاثاء 23 سبتمبر 2014، تم اعتقال الناشط النوبي راشد شيخ الدين عباش من قبل جهاز الأمن والمخابرات الوطني السوداني، بعد أن اقتحمت قوات أمنية مكان عمله وتم أخذ العاملين في مطبعته رهينة والاتصال به تلفونيا لتسليم نفسه مقابل إطلاق سراحهم. ظل راشد قيد الاعتقال منذ ذاك الحين بينما تم إطلاق سراح كافة المعتقلين لدى جهاز الأمن الذين تم اعتقالهم في ذات الفترة.
تواترت الشهادات عن تعرض راشد للتعذيب الشديد بالضرب باستخدام عصي صلبة على الظهر وتركيز الضرب على مناطق محددة وإبقاءه في أوضاع جسدية معينة لفترات طويلة بالإضافة لتعرضه للضرب المتواصل خلال التحقيقات. ظل راشد محتجزاً طوال فترة اعتقاله في معتقل جهاز الأمن قرب موقف شندي ولم يتم السماح لأسرته بزيارته رغم تقديم طلبين للزيارة وكذلك لم يتم إبلاغهم بأسباب الاعتقال او توجيه أي تهمة قانونية ضده.
راشد ناشط نوبي من اجل قضايا الحقوق والتنمية في المنطقة النوبية وكافة انحاء السودان، ويشغل حاليا منصب رئيس اللجنة الشبابية لمناهضة قيام سدي دال وكجبار، راشد في السادسة والثلاثين من عمره ومتزوج وله طفلين.
نحن الموقعون على هذه العريضة، نطالب بالإيقاف الفوري للتعذيب الذي يتعرض له راشد وباقي المعتقلين داخل معتقلات الأمن وإطلاق سراحه او توجيه تهم قانونية واضحة له و تقديمه لمحاكمة عادلة وعلنية. كما نطالب اجهزة الأمن بتقديمه لفحص طبي محايد واثبات أثار ما تعرض اليه من تعذيب ومعاملة قاسية خلال فترة اعتقاله. و كما نطالب الخبير الاممي المكلف لحقوق الانسان بمتابعة حالة اعتقال راشد وباقي المعتقلين و الضغط لاطلاق سراحهم وايقاف التعذيب الواقع عليهم
