Le Monde: La Commission de Bruxelles face à une pétition anti-OGM
Le Monde describes Avaaz's victory in mobilizing over 1 million Europeans for a GMO ban as an "innovation in participatory democracy in Europe." The campaign, which urges the Commission to uphold a moratorium on GMOs until safety testing is improved, is the first ever petition presented as a European Citizens Initiative.

BBC: Petition calls for whaling moratorium to remain
