To all members of the UN Security Council and the Arab League:

We call on you to stop the deadly terror in Syria by immediately referring cases against the regime to the International Criminal Court. Both the UN Human Rights Council and a new Avaaz report have found evidence that Assad's senior officials and security forces have committed crimes against humanity. It is time to stop this murderous brutality and protect the Syrian people, who are risking everything to reclaim their rights and their dignity.

A Syrian activist working with Avaaz reveals gruesome scars after regime torture

Our brave members are being tortured for standing for freedom in Syria. “They pulled out my fingernails and toenails… They used electricity. They put it on sensitive areas on my body.” This is what Manhal*, an Avaaz activist, told us the Assad regime did to him. Unless we act now to make the regime pay for this brutality, others will suffer as Manhal has.

The International Criminal Court can’t prosecute Assad until the United Nations asks it to. Shockingly, a few misguided countries are stalling the UN’s ability to act. But the Syrian regime cannot keep hiding its atrocities any longer, and if we build a massive global outcry, we can force the blocking governments to stop obstructing justice and accelerate the end of Assad.

Let's act urgently before the tyrant regains the upper hand. Sign the petition now, and when we reach 500,000 signatures it will be delivered along with a new Avaaz report on the Syrian regime’s brutal tactics to the Arab League and the United Nations Security Council, demanding they refer Assad to the International Criminal Court to be tried for crimes against humanity:
