Burma: Stop the next Rwanda
To the United Nations Human Rights Council:
As citizens deeply concerned about the ongoing mass violence against the Rohingya people in Myanmar, we call on you to immediately authorize a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the killings and other crimes being committed. An independent international investigation is essential to deter the leaders of the violence and gather evidence against those responsible. The conscience of humanity demands action now.

Genocides happen because we don't act on the obvious warning signs -- the kind we’re seeing now in Burma. The Rohingya are a peaceful and very poor people but they're hated because their skin is darker and they 'take jobs away' from the majority. There are 800,000 of them, and they could be gone if we don't act. We've failed too many peoples, let's not fail the Rohingya.
There's one simple thing we can do as a global community of conscience. The UN has called on the Burmese government to take action to end the violence against Muslims. But this risks becoming an empty gesture unless they establish an independent international investigation -- let’s build a giant outcry to show UN leaders that they’ll have blood on their hands if they don’t act to stop the next Rwanda. Sign the urgent petition, and it will be delivered directly to the UN Human Rights Council ahead of their next session.
