24 hours to clean up Brussels

To the President of the European Commission:

As EU citizens we are concerned that corporate representatives dominate European Commission expert groups while consumers, unions, and NGOs are marginalised. We call on you to clean up Brussels decision-making by immediately introducing strong rules to rebalance expert groups and provide full transparency of their meetings, as the European Parliament has demanded.

24 hours to clean up Brussels
Big corporations are perverting European democracy, but the European Parliament is playing a high stakes game to clean up the system. If we weigh in ahead of a key meeting we can help it win.

The EU has set up hundreds of expert groups where big banks and dirty industries write self-serving rules behind closed doors. Fed up with this insult to democracy, the European Parliament is holding back a chunk of expert group budget cash until the dominance of corporate lobbies is reduced. The European Commission is digging in, but if we offer a mass show of support right now the Parliament can win, and transform Brussels decision-making.

Let's build the pressure to make the European legislation process more democratic and transparent. Sign the urgent petition to clean up EU decision-making now -- if we reach 20,000 signers we will deliver it to a meeting on expert groups in the Parliament tomorrow. Join the public outcry and spread the word.
