Peace with Justice for Darfur
|
For four years, over 200,000 people from Darfur have been brutally killed by Sudan's military dictatorship. Yet we now face our best hope for voices to triumph over violence.
UN peacekeepers for Darfur have been authorized and next Friday, Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will convene the "Darfur Contact Group" to help set the agenda for Darfur's peace talks. Peace is possible. Our leaders can seize this chance to press for a fair and lasting peace, or they can seek peace on the cheap, and abandon millions of Sudanese to the whims of a genocidal regime. Sign on below to stand with the people of Darfur and demand that the Contact Group deploy high-level diplomatic teams to the region to secure peace now.
Petition to the leaders of the Darfur Contact Group:
We call upon you to support the aspirations of the people of Darfur and Sudan and secure a fair and lasting peace in the region. General Bashir's regime must be pressured to make serious concessions to ensure that it never again has the power to commit genocide, or to prevent the Sudanese people from choosing their own government in free and fair elections. Deploy full-time, high-level diplomatic teams to the region until this peace agreement has been reached. Sign the petition |
