Is your website secure?



Yes. Avaaz employs an outstanding technical team to make sure our website is constantly secure. Furthermore, our site is verified by Geotrust, a world leader on internet security verification. The Avaaz donation pages have addresses beginning with https:// rather than http:// thus signalling they are secure pages.

Can I donate by cheque?



No. A challenge of being a global organisation is to find methods for donating which fit the various needs of people around the world. While we are constantly trying to update our available donation methods, cheques are currently not listed due to extremely high transaction costs.

Can I donate by wire transfer/direct deposit?



No. As with cheques, these methods currently incur extremely high transaction costs.

Who processes Donations to Avaaz?



One time payments to Avaaz are processed by paypal, the webs leading payment processors. Recurring donations are processed by Givengain. Avaaz, paypal and Givengain staff will never have access to your credit/debit card details.

Are donations tax deductible?



No. Avaaz is a registered in the US as a 501(c4) organisation. Under US laws, donations to 501 (C4) organisations are not tax exempt. This rule is to ensure that 501(c4) organisations, which engage in political lobbying, are free from bias. Even if you donation was made from outside the US, you will still be unable to claim it as Avaaz is only incorporated as a charity inside the US. We are currently working on obtaining charitable status in other countries, but it is a slow process.

I made a mistake, what should I do?



Please email donations{at}Avaaz.org and we will refund your donation. Please note, we cannot offer refunds in part amounts.

I can’t seem to change the currency field, it is stuck in the wrong currency?



Please email tech{at}Avaaz.org, explain the problem and tell us what sort of computer and browser you are using: e.g. PC Internet Explorer

Can I donate via maestro/solo/switch?



Yes, follow the instructions below.

  1. Go to our donate page and click the Paypal button.

  2. Enter the amount of your donation and click "update totals."

  3. Now click on “Don’t have a PayPal account?”

  4. Now select your country, and the list of card types will change accordingly. Fill out the rest of the form to complete donation.
