Is the Avaaz website secure?
Yes. Donations to Avaaz are collected through a secure webpage, as indicated by the website address which begins with https://secure. This site is verified by Geotrust, the world's leading company for internet security verification.
Can I donate by cheque?
No. Being a global organisation we are constantly trying to update and improve our range of donation options so that they meet the various needs of Avaaz members around the world. At this time, we cannot accept cheques due to very high transaction costs when they are processed.
Can I donate by wire transfer/direct deposit?
No. As with cheques, these methods also incur high transaction costs and are not yet financially viable.
Who processes my donation to Avaaz?
One time payments to Avaaz are processed by Paypal, the internet's leading payment processors. Recurring donations are processed by Givengain. Avaaz, paypal and Givengain staff will never have access to your credit/debit card details.
Is my donation tax deductible?
No. Avaaz is a registered in the United States as a 501(c4) organisation. Under US laws, donations to 501 (C4) organisations are not tax exempt. This rule is to ensure that 501(c4) organisations, which engage in political lobbying and activism, are free from bias. Even if your donation was made from outside the US, you will still be unable to claim it as Avaaz is not registered as a non-profit organisation in any other countries. We are currently working on obtaining charitable status in several other countries, but it is a slow process.
What should I do if I made a mistake with my donation?
Please email donations{at}Avaaz.org and we will refund your donation. Please note, we cannot offer refunds in part amounts.
Why can I not change currency?
We accept donations in Euros, GBP, Yen, CAD, AUD and USD. We have noticed that a very small number of users experience problems when trying to change the currency field. This problem is usually associated with American Express credit cards. Please try using another card--if you still experience difficulties changing your currency, email tech{at}Avaaz.org with a brief description of the problem. Also please include some basic information about your computer and browser: e.g. PC Internet Explorer 6
Can I donate via maestro/solo/switch/EC?
Yes. Please follow the instructions below to help you.
- Go to our donate page and click the Paypal button.

- Enter the amount of your donation and click "update totals."

- Now click on “Don’t have a PayPal account?”

- Select your country--the list of available card types will change accordingly. Fill out the rest of the form to complete donation.
