Nuclear corruption -- 24 hours to stop it

To Governor Nishikawa and Mayor Tokioka:

As peoples of Japan, we call on you to stand against the corrupt restart of two reactors at the Oi nuclear power plant. JAEA -- which sends staff to the NSC -- has admitted to receiving millions of yen from entities including KEPCO. This destroys the NSC’s credibility and claim that the reactors are safe for restart. We ask you to show leadership at this critical hour by prioritising the safety of people in Fukui and across Japan and saying NO to a corrupt restart.

Nuclear corruption -- 24 hours to stop it

Japan’s Atomic Energy Agency just admitted it’s received millions of yen from energy companies seeking permission to restart nuclear plants -- in a move where money could have influenced regulators on life and death matters like nuclear safety! It’s scandalous and it’s up to us to stop the scandal and block the restarts.

JAEA has accepted 250 million yen from utility companies including Oi operator KEPCO -- raising serious concerns on the validity of their recommendation to restart the Oi nuclear plants. But Tokyo is betting that this scandal will go away, and instead rushing to force Fukui leaders into approving the restarts. Fortunately 2 people stand in their way -- Oi Mayor Tokioka and Fukui Governor Nishikawa are the only people with the power to stop Tokyo, but they’re under tremendous pressure to cave in and need our help.

Trade Minister Edano will meet Fukui officials this weekend -- let’s give Fukui’s local leaders the wave of people power they need to block the corrupt restart orders. Send them an urgent petition now.
