How to save thousands of dolphins a year
To Dr. Gerald Dick, Executive Director of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and all its board members:
We urge you to use your powers to end the annual dolphin bloodbath in Taiji’s. It is time for you to enforce your association’s code of ethics and expel all members that acquire wild dolphins from drive hunts like those in Taiji. We count on you, as a leading conservationist, to help stop the deadly dolphin trade.

The air suddenly fills with terrifying human-like screams -- down below, in the cove, hundreds of dolphins are slaughtered with sharp metal spikes, many dying from exhaustion, choking on their own blood. Only a few are captured alive. The next massacre can happen any time -- and we must stop it.
Over a thousand dolphins are brutally hunted each year in Taiji, Japan -- although most are sold as meat, the driver of these killing sprees is the highly lucrative business that comes from selling them for entertainment in marine parks. But many of these parks are members of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), and they care about their reputation as animal lovers -- this is how we can force them to stop the Taiji blood bath.
With the hunting season at its peak, a bold public campaign targeting WAZA's boss, Dr. Gerald Dick, can persuade him to enforce its rules and expel those aquariums that acquire Taiji dolphins, cutting off the demand at its source. Click to save the dolphins and tell everyone -- let’s reach one million voices, Avaaz will then run hard-hitting ads and billboards in Dr. Dick’'s hometown if he doesn't respond to our call.
