We won! EU Parliament voted for Net Neutrality!
Right now, the EU Parliament is voting whether to protect Internet freedom and innovation or give Big Telecoms the power to control traffic, and kill the Net as we know it. UK Liberal MEPs are key to win the vote, but some are sitting on the fence. Let's send an avalanche of messages NOW urging them to stand up for a free and democratic Internet or face a massive backlash in the EU polls next May!

You can use the following arguments, but the more personal your message will be the more effective it will end up being, and remember to be polite:
  • The current text of the EU telecoms package threatens our freedom online, while undermining innovation
  • As the leader of the UK delegation for the ALDE group, I urge you to do all you can to ensure all UK Liberal members support strong amendments that:
    • Change or delete the current definition of "specialized service" (Article 2.15) as it increases costs to users, and could create a two-tiered Internet
    • Do not allow Internet access providers to offer discriminatory services that will be expensive and confusing for the consumer
    • Don’t let Internet companies interfere with online communications without a legal basis or a court order!
  • Specifically I urge you to vote for amendments 234 and 246 during the plenary session on April 3rd
  • With the EU elections round the corner, I count on you to show true leadership and help protect a free and democratic Internet
