Taliban releases South Korean Hostages
|
The Taliban finally released the Korean hostages! After one month of negotiations and the two hostages killed, the hostage situation finally came to an end.
As soon as the news of the kidnaping took place Avaaz quickly drafted a petition calling on the Afghan Pashtunwali code of “hospitality to all, especially guests and strangers” as an argument to release the hostages. The kidnapping is a clear violation of the code, offending the weary people of Afghanistan on whom they depend. The global community spoke out strong in solidarity to the South Koreans. As the petition grew stronger, messages and ads sent to the Afghan media made sure the global message for the release of the hostages reached Taliban ears.
To the Taliban leaders,
Please honour the code of the Pashtun people, respect aid workers as guests in Afghanistan and release all hostages unharmed. Sign the petition |
