Over the past few years Congress has been one of the biggest obstacles to help America get back on track. The excessive partisanship contributed to the lack of progress of dealing with the debt ceiling last year and this year we are dealing with the fiscal cliff. Congress approval rating is a mere 18%, the average is a 33% approval rating. Despite Congress' inability to get anything done for the American people, on December 27th President Obama issued an executive order that will give federal workers a pay rise of 0.5%. Even though this is a small increase, we cannot allow this to happen because it is essentially reinforcing Congress' unacceptable behavior. The possible tax hikes and spending cuts set to begin in January will have detrimental effects on the American people, yet Congress will be enjoying a pay raise. This simply makes no sense and it is unjust.
