Ban new incinerators in UK

Incinerators are an outdated and inefficient form of waste disposal. They create vast quantities of CO2, risk polluting the atmosphere with dioxins, nitrofurans and other toxins, do not create as much energy as newer methods of waste disposal, create lots of traffic, discourage recycling, burn valuable resources and leave 30% residue in the form of toxic bottom ash and highly toxic fly ash.

There are cleaner, greener and cheaper alternatives such as increased recycling and gas/plasma technology, which leaves only 1% inert residue.

Each incinerator plan is considered separately, but if you add the capacity of each one, the total is more waste than is currently produced in the UK. We could end up importing waste to keep them all fed, with all the traffic, congestion and pollution that that would cause.
