Negative Vote is a vote cast against a candidate in an election. Each voter still has only one vote but the voter has the choice to cast his only vote for someone he supports or against a candidate he despises most. The Negative Vote will be counted against the positive votes and winner is the person who gets the most net positive votes.

There are three reasons why this should be adopted:
1. Negative Vote should be a basic right.
As a voter, I should have the right to use my ballot to say "No, I do not wish this person to be in power". Current elections laws that do not allow anyone to vote "No" is undemocratic.
2. Voter participation will increase.
A lot of people do not go to the polls because they do not like any of the candidates. Negative Vote will draw more voters to participate, that would be an improvement for democracy.
3. Extremism will be reduced.
Negative votes are likely to be cast by the middle electorate against extremists. Extreme rhetoric is therefore likely to diminish during election campaigns. A society will become more harmonious internally and with its neighbors, improving the prospect for world peace.
