Asia Noreen Bibi was sentenced to death by hanging in Pakistan for the alleged crime of blasphemy. She is a Christian in an Islamic country. Notable people who have publicly supported her case, like Salman Taseer, have been murdered and there are fears for Asia's safety while in custody. A local Muslim leader has offered a $6,000 reward to anyone who murders Asia Bibi. The family of Asia Bibi is also getting death threats. I call on the Pakistan Judicial System for clemency for Asia and her family and for them to be given asylum in a place of safety. This is a Human Rights issue of crucial importance.
