"To my Brothers and Sisters in the Struggle,

I have been locked away for 37 years, and though my body is starting to fail, my heart is still strong with the people who are fighting for our basic human rights. Your willingness to use your voices in a coordinated, united effort to help me gain my freedom give all the people of the world a reason to hope against injustice.

We can never stop until every man, woman and child has the right to live in the way of our ancestors, rich in our own culture and traditions. Part of our creation story spells out the responsibility of living in harmony with all living things. We need to put our minds together to create a world where our children, and the children of the next seven generations can live in peace, knowing that truth and justice can and will prevail.

Truth and Justice will light a fire that won't be extinguished. No human being should ever have to fear for his or her life because of their political or religious beliefs. We are in this together, my friends, the rich, the poor, the red, white, black, brown and yellow. We share responsibility for Mother Earth and those who live and breathe upon her. Never forget that.

Thank you for your commitment to do your part. I am standing with you. Thank you for standing with me.

Doksha"

- Leonard Peltier, Amnesty International registered prisoner of consciousness and Lakota/Anishnabe Native American held in US government custody for 37 years on falsified evidence.

Please sign your name to help free Leonard Peltier, because until he regains his freedom, none of us are truly free.

This International Clemency Appeal Petition will be delivered to President Obama by Native American and International Supporters.

PRESIDENT OBAMA -- Please Grant Executive Clemency to Leonard Peltier Now. Let him return to his family and his people, to spend his remaining days in Peace with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who he has never met.

Tell Leonard you care. Write Leonard Peltier at #89637-132, USP Coleman 1, US Penitentiary, PO Box 1033, Coleman, FL 33521

Background:

Leonard Peltier is a man who stands for the Right to be Free and Defend against injustice -- the right of every citizen on this planet. Peltier did what any of us might have done under grave situations. He helped to defend Elders and Children at a time when the FBI was waging war -- a "Reign of Terror" -- on the Native American population at Pine Ridge, South Dakota in the mid-1970s. Over 60 native people were killed and over 400 assaulted and many imprisoned. Leonard, who has consistently denied the charges made against him and spoken out in defense of his people's rights was convicted of shooting two FBI agents. The weight of evidence proves beyond reasonable doubt that Leonard was scapegoated in a ruthless campaign that throughout American history has seriously attempted to destroy Native American culture and has exploited their remaining land for oil and uranium mining, all of which continues to this day.

Why One Man's Freedom Means Freedom For Us All

Leonard Peltier is an example to us all of one man who has dedicated his life to the cause of his people's human rights and cultural freedom -- who took action to defend his people against the same injustice and erosion of freedom and liberty worldwide that befalls us all.

The Trial of Leonard Peltier was a TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE. Senior Judge Gerald Heaney of the 8th Circuit Court panel that denied Peltier's 1986 appeal later reversed his stance, but this fell on deaf ears and continues to be ignored. The bitterly contested conviction has seen Peltier consistently denied Parole, held under extremely harsh circumstances including serious beatings and solitary confinement (despite an impeccable record of dignity and grace), and housed in maximum security penitentiaries which have now seriously eroded his health (Peltier is 68 years old).

NELSON MANDELA, the Rev, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Michael Gorbachov, the Dalai Lama and over 550 VIPs have stated that Peltier should be a free man. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and European Parliaments have adopted resolutions calling for Leonard's EXECUTIVE CLEMENCY -- only President Obama can give this order.

PRESIDENT OBAMA paid many tributes to "the heroes of Robben Island" who ENDED APARTHEID in the early 1990s during his recent visit to South Africa. However he has so far failed to realize that Mandela, who became a global symbol of freedom and then was elected through democratic process to become president of his nation after being held by the Apartheid South African government for 27 years, has himself called for Peltier's freedom.

"The world is grateful for the heroes of Robben Island, who remind us that no shackles or cells can match the strength of the human spirit." Obama was, he said, "humbled to stand where men of such courage faced down injustice and refused to yield." – 30 June 2013

It is time for the President of The United States of America to show similar courage in the case of Leonard Peltier,

Scrivete a Leonard Peltier #89637-132, USP Coleman 1, US Penitentiary, PO Box 1033, Coleman, FL 33521
