Secure the lives of the indigenous people Paiter Surui in the Brazilian Amazon
The presence and attitude of these invaders has brought up conflicts with local Indians, and some of the leaders of the Paiter Surui people are being threatened to death by the timber extractors.
This situation can no longer continue to occur. FUNAI (National Indian Foundation), the Federal Police and the Ministry of Justice already know of these conflicts and the illegal presence of the timber extractors in the Indigenous Territory Sete de Setembro, but still need to act in order to protect the Surui forests and provide safety to the indigenous people Paiter Surui (especially those being threatened to death).
Facing the risk to the sustainability of the indigenous people Paiter Surui’s life, represented by the constant death threats their leaders have been facing and by the invasion and devastation of the Indigenous Territory Sete de Setembro, caused by the lack of surveillance and control of their borders, along with the constant impunity of invaders actions, we ask the Hon. Ministry of Justice, the Il. President of FUNAI and the Director of the Federal Police the guarantees askedin this petition.
