George Osborne: Nationalise Major Utilities, beginning with the power companies.

In last year's Tory Party Conference, Chancellor George Osborne declared in this time of austerity "We're all in this together." Yet, Osborne shamelessly cut taxes for the highest earners whilst cutting benefits for the most needy. The government's latest swindle is to allow huge profits to go to energy firms even though fuel prices are predicted to soar. Though Osborne claims that he'll cut taxes to lower energy bills, he has no intention of making companies lower their prices. He also plans to cut programmes that protect the environment. If there were any doubts before, it is now perfectly clear that the government has no interest in serving the vital needs of the British people, but only wants to increase corporate profits above all else. But people will suffer terribly as a result of the government's immoral policies. Families will be given the stark choice of either heating their homes or being properly fed. The elderly who suffer winter worse than anyone else, will die in greater numbers as a direct result of rising fuel costs. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! It is time that the British government acts in the interests of the British people, not international corporations and their shareholders. We therefore demand that Britain's major utilities, beginning with the energy companies are given back to the British people and become nationalized. Although this is the last thing that the present government wants to hear, if we raise enough voices and speak loudly and clearly even this heartless government will be forced to listen.
