PRESS RELEASE: 20th May 2013

"We are facing one of the most brutal repression by the government on our movement. While we have adopted the democratic and peaceful means available to demand the release of arrested 147 workers, withdrawal of non-bailable arrest warrants from 66 workers and reinstatement of terminated 546 permanent and 1800 contract workers, the government has only responded with force and malice and in collusion with the Maruti Suzuki company management."

Sunday May 19th:

"A few minutes ago, Haryana Police brutally charged thousands of Maruti Suzuki workers and their families in Kaithal. Tear gas and water canons also were used against the protesters; there was a considerable number of women among them and reportedly a number of women have been seriously injured in this shameful act of oppression by the Haryana government. These workers and their families had been protesting peacefully against the unlawful arrest of 96 workers from the dharna site in Kaithal last night. This dharna(sit in) of workers had been going on in Kaithal for last 57 days. Today Haryana government came out in open support of the Maruti Suzuki Management and the forces of capital."
