2018 THE DEVELOPERS HAVE SUBMITTED AN APPLICATION TO DEVELOP AT NEW CHUM.
NOW WE ASK OUR NEW PRIME MINISTER JACINDA ARDERN AND OUR MINISTER OF TOURISM KELVIN DAVIS, TO STEP UP AND FIND A SOLUTION SO NEW CHUM CAN BE PRESERVED FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.
98% OF THE SUBMISSIONS WERE AGAINST ANY DEVELOPMENT AT NEW CHUM BEACH.
TO EVERYONE ELSE PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION TO PRESERVE NEW CHUM AND SEND IT ON.
Designated one of the top 20 beaches in the World and one of the top 3 isolated beaches in the world by National Geographic, Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan agrees, And having traveled to well over a 100 countries he says about New Chum, "How can you perfect perfection? Leave it as it is and allow it to be pristine as it is now for our children’s children".
There has been a huge Public outcry both nationally and internationally for the last 4 years, and applications have been submitted t o develop the catchment area behind New Chum Beach.
People travel from all over the world to visit this 'jewel' in the crown of New Zealand's heritage, and it must be preserved for future generations.
Our Past Prime Minister John Key said about New Chum - "We want to get it right, we want people in 150 years to look back and say they got that right they were thinking of what’s best for all '". Perhaps with a new Government a solution can be negotiated. A WIN WIN for all
A group of dedicated people have lead this preservation march and we have now reached the stage that a result is required. That result is for the Government to negotiate with Stakeholders and the developers so this unique Beach with its world famous wilderness values can be preserved.
Let your vote represent the Wairua (spirit) or voice of New Chum Beach to be preserved for all generations to enjoy for ever; untouched, ancient and nothing but the sound of the waves as you walk along this magnificent vista.
