As you read this, an innocent woman is in danger of losing her life in Mexico’s border town, Ciudad Juarez. Over 450 women were killed in the last two years alone and about 60 more murders have been reported in 2012, in addition to over 100 disappearances.

Despite a sanction imposed by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in 2009, the Mexican government has failed to attend to its dysfunctional justice system by conducting flawed and inadequate investigations and disregarding statistics on the murders. A call to action is needed now more than ever as 2012 has been the deadliest year so far, but with your voice we can demand an end to the bloodshed.

Help pressure President Felipe Calderon, Governor of Chihuahua César Duarte Jáquez, and Municipal President Héctor Murguía Lardizábal into implementing a strong forensics team and police force that effectively investigates the root of the problem and brings those responsible for the abduction, rape, and murder of hundreds of women to justice.

If you are a woman, if you are a mother, if you have a daughter, sister, wife or friend, PLEASE HELP BRING JUSTICE to the victims of Juárez by signing this petition.

The pattern of violence against women goes back to 1993 when the first victim, 13-year-old Alma Chavira Farel, was raped and strangled to death. However, the problem is far from over as more than 800 women have been murdered since then. Despite the recurring cases of discrimination, violence, and torture, police have turned a blind eye on the issue by not acting with the due diligence required and failing to put forth substantial arrests and convictions that address the root of the problem.

It's your chance to spread the word and help prevent future murder cases by signing this petition. As global citizens, we all have the power to shape the world we want to see. Let’s put an end to violence now!
