started this petition to
President Al Sisi
Three Al Jazeera journalists have just been sentenced to 7 and 10 years in jail for simply doing their jobs! The best chance for their release is if we all appeal to the new Egyptian president al Sisi to step in and overturn the ruling.

Field Marshall Al Sisi is a hardline military leader who is ruling through repression of any opposition. Even an Avaaz staffer was recently kicked out of Egypt just for trying to deliver a petition. But Sisi is also trying to put on a nice guy face to the outside world, to maintain aid and trade. If we all speak out now and make clear the world will shun Egypt until it releases these three, we could persuade him to overturn the ruling.

Al Sisi wants to be seen as a great new leader and experts are saying that a presidential pardon is possible. Sign up now and tell everyone -- let’s build a massive campaign calling on him to free these three men now and making clear journalism is not a crime.
