President Hamid Karzai and Members of Afghan Parliament

The petition is needed to stop the Afghan Parliament and President Karzai from repealing or amending the 2009 Afghan Law on the Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW) to replace it with a less effective version that would serve the interests of extremists and perpetrators of violence against women. The existing law prohibits 22 acts of violence against women, provides support to survivors, and prosecutes offenders.
