Save African elephants from extinction

A new UN report warns that 'The African elephant is facing the greatest crisis in decades...and may soon disappear unless urgent action is taken.' Though this is happening as a result of demand for ivory in Asia, Kenya in particular has become a transit route for illegal ivory. Newly elected president, Uhuru Kenyatta, has promised to address poaching, and his country has in the past taken dramatic and effective action to protect elephants. Such action is needed again now. I grew up in East Africa watching elephants and I learnt that they are social creatures who care for their families and suffer grief. Can you imagine a world without them?
