Stop to the destruction of Skorvdalen, let the Golden Eagles remain&excl
Investors want to build a ski resort and plans to offer more than 5000 beds in Skorvdalen, an area of pristine nature in Härjedalen, Sweden.
The area includes a well&dashestablished eagle territory, one of the best reproduction territories in Sweden, generation after generation.
Ironically, the planned ski resort is called ’Örndalen’ – The Eagle Valley. In times of climate changes, even ski enthusiasts are critical. They doubt that the resort will add anything new to the area and that the project is being falsely marketed.
Voices are heard&colon “a pair of eagles versus 300 jobs, shoot the birds”. This is alarming &dash It is not about a pair of birds, it is an important long term reproduction territory of area&excl It is known that now these Eagles are already disturbed from development in the area. The bird symbol for region Härjedalen is&colon the Golden Eagle. We want to make sure it is protected in every possible way&excl
Within the EU, the golden eagle is protected by the EU’s Birds Directive, the Bern Convention, the Bonn Convention and CITES, all of which are agreements between EU nations on protection for threatened species. The golden eagle has a high level of protection, which means that the countries in which it lives must ensure it has protected areas and that special measures must be taken when planning and developing land.
