Stop Australian Animal Food Industries Expanding in Asia

Leaders in banking agribusiness, the Farmer's Federation, Dairy Australia and the Australian government are keen to expand animal food use in the growing Asian middle class. Animal food industries pollute any water they contact, release the most potent green house gases, eliminate forests to make pasture (resulting in plant and animal extinctions) cause erosion and soil degradation and are responsible for a major part of human illness in the form of cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure and food poisoning. With available land already in use, expansion of this industry can only occur with intensification (factory farming) more forest clearing and genetic modification of food animals.We call upon Senator Joe Ludwig, Minister for Trade to do all in his power to halt expansion of the Australian Meat industry into Asia.
