Ken H.
started this petition to
The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand (PCANZ).
The PCANZ does not allow congregations to ‘call’ as ministers (or appoint as elders) women and men who are in a relationship outside of heterosexual marriage. This can only be changed by a vote at the General Assembly.

Jesus directed us to love all people equally and impartially. A policy of excluding gay women and men goes against this precept.

I am a Presbyterian who believes it is unjust to discriminate, particularly in a Christian Church, on the grounds of sexual orientation.

As a result of this petition being signed by a large number of people the General Assembly may be influenced to vote in favour of gay Presbyterian women and men being allowed to train for church ministry.
