Government of Greece, European Union
I call not only upon the Greek Senior Government Officials to stop this practise but also Upon the European Union as transgender rights and general equality in the EU is compromised by these unnecessary and transphobic actions

Trans*gender people are being detained and usually forcibly tested for HIV. This is Greece's effort to clear the countries streets of "undesirables". Not only Trans* people but those who are homeless, drug users and sex workers (women are mostly targeted under this category) are included in their cleansing programme.

On the 30th of May the Greek government identified a new group of "undesirables". You guessed it, Trans*gender people were it. Under false pretence of checking the person was not involved in the sex industry persons of trans* heritage found themselves being rounded up and arrested. Their details are taken and are detained for several hours.

On release they are warned that if they don't "revert to a normal life" or words of similar effect or they can take the risk of being arrested on the grounds of "public indecency".
