Firing a stun grenade to gain entry to his home, where he was alone with his Mother, and ignoring his pleas of innocence, soldiers tied Kadin’s * hands behind his back, with one painful plastic tie. They then blindfolded him, pushing him terrified, into a jeep, where he was slapped on the face and punched on the head. He was later hit in the back, shouted at, laughed at, verbally abused and eventually interrogated without a lawyer or parent present. Kadin’s alleged crime ? throwing stones. ( with his neighbours who were defending their village from Settlers. ) His age 13 years.
When Kadin’s Mother tried to follow the jeep taking her son away, the soldiers fired rubber ( metal with rubber casing ) bullets, hitting her, causing severe pain and injuries.
This is daily life for Palestinians, who have to contend with Israel’s violent, settler colonial occupation of Palestine.
Settlers, many from abroad, have Israeli citizen status, and live in Settlements provided for them by Israel. Frequently armed and dangerous, they often attack local Palestinian communities. Yet when Palestinians try to defend themselves, they, or their innocent friends or neighbours are arrested by the Israeli Defence Forces, and the above is their fate.
Settlements are BUILT ON PALESTINIAN LAND and have resulted in the forcible eviction and displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. The effect on the palestinian population is devastating.
LEGAL SOLUTION
Under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, “the transfer... by the Occupying Power... of parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies...” is a War Crime.*
An urgent investigation by the Prosecutor is required so the matter can come before the International Criminal Court. When the Court decides, International Law can provide a remedy.
The issue of the Settlements, is a major obstacle to Peace between Israel and Palestine.
There can be no Peace without Justice.
There can be no Justice without an end to the impunity of agents of Israel.
Please sign the Petition asking the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to carry out an investigation into war crimes in Palestine. And share it with your friends.
On behalf of the Palestinian people, thank you for your support!
