We want a change of use to be granted to allow u to use our roof terrace

We are a young business which has worked tirelessly to make the Grafton a pub Kentishtowners can be proud of and it is a stark reality that our summer months here will always be a challenge unless we can develop some outside space.

Earlier this year we were granted a license to use the space outside with the approval from licensing, the noise officer, local residents and the Inkerman area residents association, but were eventually turned down by planning citing noise disturbance and any use of the roof terrace detracting from the look of the building and the look the local area.

We were told that no redesign would of been acceptable and that the concept was unacceptable in principle. This greatly saddens and disappoints us as all we have tried to do from day one is return the Grafton back to its former glory. We are about to have the outside painted in order to soften it into the local area, but still feel that the roof terrace is an under used facility that would make the Grafton one of the best pubs in the local area.

We would love your help in setting up a campaign in order to show the council that there is a lot of support for what we are proposing and that in fact the locals want to have this facility for them to use during the summer months.
