Save the Elephants: STOP BLOODY IVORY
|
Update -- we won this round -- let's keep up the pressure! Both proposals by Tanzania and Zambia for resuming trade in ivory were rejected. Our petition was delivered at the UN CITES meeting and the President of the Species Survival Network, Will Travers, said: “the petition no doubt made a difference and helped achieve the right result for elephants everywhere." It's a breather for elephants, but poaching and government corruption continue to hamper efforts to protect the species. Let’s keep growing our movement to send a strong message to those who profit from the deaths of these magnificent creatures. Sign the petition below, and spread the word to your friends:
To the 175 parties of the UN Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species:
As citizens from around the world, we call on you to reject any exemptions in the global ban on the ivory trade, to extend that ban for at least 20 years, and to take all necessary steps to enforce that ban and protect the elephants. Protect the elephants!
