Stop the Gaza killings

To the UN Security Council, the European Union, the Arab League and the USA:

We urge you to act immediately to ensure a comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, to protect civilians on all sides, and to address the growing humanitarian crisis. Only through robust international action and oversight can the bloodshed be stopped, the Gaza crossings safely re-opened and real progress made toward a wider peace.

Stop the Gaza killings
Last night the Israeli military began a bombing rampage in Gaza which has already killed an eleven month old baby. Palestinians and Israelis are on the brink of another cycle of violence and vengeance that will only end if global leaders step in to stop it.

Israel says it was because Hamas has increased rockets into southern Israel, but most see it as a cynical move to drum up fear and raise votes to reelect Israel's right-wing extremist government. The Israeli people shouldn’t live in fear of militants firing rockets, but the rockets are puny compared to Israel’s advanced military hardware. And the Gazan people have nowhere to hide from the missiles and mortars -- Gaza is a prison. All mothers can do is stay indoors, put mattresses against windows, and pray for their children.

With both Israel and Hamas threatening to escalate, it’s likely to get much worse unless the US, who has most leverage over Israel, works with the EU, and the Arab League to act right now. Sign on the right to call on them to take immediate steps to get a comprehensive ceasefire and end the blockade that’s strangling Gaza, and share this with everyone -- let's make a noise they cannot ignore.
