Stop the secret threat to Internet freedom
To all the governments negotiating the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement:
As citizens from across the world, we stand with the governments of Chile, New Zealand and Malaysia in questioning the secrecy that surrounds the TPP negotiations. We call on you to make the process transparent and accountable, and reject any plans to handover our rights to corporations. It is crucial that Internet remains a crucial tool for people around the world to exchange ideas and promote democracy.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) could make it a crime to post or even watch a copyrighted video, handing corporations enormous powers to remove entire websites and police our private data, but the US government has ensured the negotiations are shrouded in secrecy to protect corporate special interests. Chile, New Zealand and Malaysia are questioning the process now, but it will take a explosion of public opposition to shed light on these treacherous trade talks and ensure our governments put public interest over greedy big business.
When the last secret agreement to threaten Internet freedom (ACTA) was opened up to public scrutiny, we forced European politicians to kill it in a matter of months. If we sound the global alarm again, we can persuade the trio of champions to pull back the veil and help neutralize this new corporate attack on our freedoms. Sign the petition on the right now to save our Internet and tell everyone -- our voices will be directly delivered to key delegations meeting in Virginia when we reach 500,000 signatures:
