No golden parachutes for TEPCO

To Fukushima District Prosecutor's Office:

As citizens across Japan we are outraged at the news that former TEPCO president Masataka Shimizu utilized powerful relationships made during his presidency at TEPCO to land a lucrative job at Fuji Oil Company. This blatant amakudari demonstrates the sheer lack of accountability against the worst perpetrators of the Fukushima disaster. We ask that you immediately open the 1,300 criminal complaints filed against Shimizu and other TEPCO executives in order that Shimizu be brought to justice.

No golden parachutes for TEPCO

TEPCO’s disgraced ex-chief Masataka Shimizu -- fired for his dreadful mishandling of the Fukushima disaster -- just landed a cushy new job at a sister utility company! But together we can ensure this mis-manager sees the inside of a courtroom before he retires at another desk.

Allowing Shimizu to keep his lucrative new job would strike a terrible blow against accountability for the worst nuclear disaster in our history. 1,300 criminal complaints have been filed so far against Shimizu and his colleagues, yet not a single TEPCO executive has been brought to justice. But if the Fukushima prosecutor’s office opens the case against Shimizu, we can sack him and keep our march for accountability alive.

Sign this urgent petition to the prosecutor’s office on the right -- Avaaz will supercharge the call by dialing Fuji Oil’s headquarters with an automated message calling on the company to fire him.
