As citizens from around the world, we call on you not to fund any mining activity in the Great Barrier Reef, including the Alpha Coal port project. The project would drastically increase shipping traffic across the reef and would require damaging dredging of a protected ecosystem. The Great Barrier Reef -- home to the world’s largest collection of coral reefs and a UNESCO world heritage natural wonder -- must be protected for future generations. We urge you to refrain from using US taxpayer dollars to further its destruction.

Stop the Great Barrier Coal Mine
Australia could let mining magnates build one of the world's largest coal ports on top of the Great Barrier Reef -- fueling 8 billion extra tonnes of coal that will be burned, helping to destroy our atmosphere and risking the survival of this entire amazing ecosystem.

Activists in Australia are pressuring the government, but a bank funded by US tax dollars is key to the project. Global pressure on the US bank now could cause them to pull out -- threatening the entire crazy plan.

Let’s up the pressure on the bank’s chairman Fred Hochberg and demand he halt funding for the Great Barrier coal mine. We have only days to act -- he's in Australia for meetings right now. Click to join the call to save the reef and we'll make sure Hochberg gets our message loud and clear!
