Don't abandon Britain's friends

UK Foreign Secretary William Hague:

As concerned UK citizens, we call on you to immediately grant asylum to all Afghan nationals who have worked as translators for British forces in Afghanistan. Risks to their lives are growing daily as the UK starts to withdraw; we cannot abandon them and we must act now. Their fate is in your hands.

Don't abandon Britain's friends
Afghan translators have risked everything to help British soldiers and journalists working in Afghanistan. Many have already been killed or injured just for doing their jobs: many more have received death threats from the Taliban, and desperately fear what will happen when British troops leave next year.

When the UK withdrew from Iraq, the Home Office granted Iraqi translators asylum in Britain. All Nato countries in Afghanistan have now promised the same for their translators -- apart from Britain.

These Afghan translators have saved many British lives - and every day they stay in Afghanistan gets more dangerous. Their only hope for safety is if UK Foreign Secretary William Hague grants them asylum. Let’s call on him to do the right thing now before it’s too late - sign the petition above.
