Wisconsin: Debate big money in politics!

To Presidential Debate Moderator Jim Lehrer:

As American citizens concerned that the record amounts that will be spent on this campaign pose a threat to good government, we call on you to spend one of the six 15-minute segments in the first presidential debate pressing the candidates on what they plan to do to address this issue. In particular, we call on you to ask them: “If elected, would you call on Congress to study and propose a Constitutional Amendment designed to reduce the influence of money in our political system - yes or no - and, if not, what would you do to address voter concerns that campaign money is corrupting our political system?"

Wisconsin: Debate big money in politics!
As we've all seen on our television sets, every special interest and Super PAC under the sun is trying to influence our vote in this year's super tight Wisconsin Senate race, which could decide which Party controls the Senate. But if we act in the next three days, we can make sure that Wisconsin picks its next Senator based on what's good for the many, not the money.

In Wisconsin—and across the country—the 2012 elections are shaping up to be the most expensive in US history. In response to this flood of campaign cash that is drowning and corrupting our democracy, a national movement is growing for a constitutional amendment to get big money out of politics, and right now we can boost it here in Wisconsin — by demanding that the moderators of next week’s debate between Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin and Tommy Thompson ask them if they'd support Congress studying and proposing such an amendment.

By making them answer the question, we can force the candidates to respond to us and not the donors if they want our vote. And we can show all voters who's with the people and who's with the special interests. Send a brief message now to ensure the issue is front and center in Thursday's debate.
