As anti-Muslim riots in Burma turn nasty we look at the decades old Muslim refugee camps between Burma and Bangladesh. Trapped in a no-man's land they reflect decades long tensions now breaking out in widespread violence.
Decades after Burma's military junta forced many of the Rohingyas into exile they are still trapped in displacement camps, living in constant fear of abuse. Bangladesh classes them as illegal immigrants and refuses to protect them. "My people are rotting", despairs one refugee. As their situation becomes "institutional", a peaceful way out of the deadlock seems impossible.
