3 Billboards Tour Miami Calling Attention to Marco Rubio’s Refusal to Protect Schoolchildren from Guns

MIAMI, Florida.— In the wake of the horrific Stoneman Douglas High School shooting on Wednesday, civic group Avaaz, has released 3 massive mobile billboards in Miami calling for gun reform. The billboards, modeled after the Oscar-nominated film 3 Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, read: “Slaughtered in school; And still no gun control; How come, Marco Rubio?” The Senator has taken fire across the country for his toothless response to the shooting, calling it “inexplicable” on NBC-6’s Jackie Nespral.

Florida has notoriously lax gun laws, and Rubio, who is supported by the NRA, has never attempted to reform them. The senator ranks as one of the highest recipients of NRA contributions and has received an A+ rating from the NRA. There have been 334 mass shootings in last 12 months, and yet no new federal gun laws since 1994.

Emma Ruby-Sachs, Avaaz deputy director: "Inspired by the 3 Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, where a mother personally challenges the local authorities to solve her daughter's murder, today we take the streets asking ourselves: how come, Rubio? The Senator has taken fire across the country for his toothless response to the shooting, calling it 'inexplicable'. We call that 'inexcusable'"
