New owners are determined to take down the 4 iconic chimneys on the pretext that cracks are making the concrete towers unsafe except a survey shows that the cracks were there when the concrete dried in the construction and this is entirely normal. once the chimneys are gone it is not unimaginable that the rest of the grade II* building will also be lost as the argument is likely made that the replacement chimneys are too expensive
