No lost generation

To the leaders of Germany, Japan, the US, Kuwait and the World Bank:

When school starts this fall, 1 million Syrian refugee children will be left out. As global citizens, we call on you to fulfill your funding pledges in time for them to get the education they deserve. A generation has already been robbed of a peaceful childhood. Let's not steal their only chance to escape poverty and seek a better future. Please ensure there is 'No Lost Generation' by paying the pledges now to get every child back in school.

No lost generation
10-year-old Nizar lives across the street from school but he’s never been to class. Instead, he works selling gum. A Syrian refugee, he’s one of many who cannot afford the cost of education. But if we act now, 1 million children, like Nizar, can go back to school.

Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey agreed to integrate Syrian refugee children into their schools, and governments around the world pledged to fund the plan. But some donors haven’t paid and without the money, 1 million refugee children could miss an entire year of school.

We only have 50 days before classes start. Let’s be the voice these children need -- sign now. When we reach one million -- one of us for each child who need to get to school -- Avaaz will deliver our call directly to donors.
