Editorials were once an opportunity for the person charged with assembling a newspaper to have a voice. Traditionally their role did not permit contributions in text in other parts of the publication, yet the unique overview of someone in this position afforded the potential to comment in an unbiased way on the content and sentiment of the articles being published and the issues of the day. This is no longer the case. The Editorial today is farmed out to journalists who have ample opportunity to comment in other sections of the paper and/ or have just been granted a symbolic 'editor' title in order to pass off their biased work as an impartial opinion.
