Petition Hi Way Re-Route is important as it not only affects the lives of hundreds of persons and may have a negative impact on the environment but it is also evidence of lack of good governance in Trinidad & Tobago. The head of the Re-Route Campaign, Dr. Wayne Kublalsingh, is now on a hunger strike ( Day 20 ) and he will not eat or drink until the Government provides an independent environmental assessment of the impact of this highway. He and his team have suggested an alternate route but the Government refuses to discuss in an informed and impartial manner.
