Thamburudoo is a heritage site that has 2 of the best surf breaks in the Maldives and it's under threat of being developed into a resort which will deny free access, stop direct economy which will destroy a culture & industry that has been there for decades

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A sizeable number of surf points in the Maldives have long been privatised by resorts adjacent to these spots (resort islands can lay claim to territory within a 1km radius under a governmental regulation). This essentially means that locals and non in-house guests of these resorts are restricted from surfing these waves.

It's a pity that world renowned breaks such as Pasta Point and Lohi's are a no-go area for locals.

No native of any country should be restricted from surfing their very own surf breaks.

We Maldivians need your support in convincing our government to repeal all surf exclusivity policies and to halt the proposed development of Thamburudhoo island as a resort
