Update: Giant Mussolini, Hitler and Stalin sail up river to far-right summit

*Avaaz erects 3-meter tall images of iconic fascists on boat as meeting starts

As Europe’s far-right politicians gather in Koblenz, Avaaz installed giant 3 metre high images of Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and other far-right leaders in front of the town’s historic Deutches Eck statue, and then the figures were taken by boat to the conference centre.

The giant fascist leaders were erected this morning to make a statement that politicians at the summit today are peddling old, dangerous ideas and tactics that brought Europe to war, and citizens will oppose them. They were then sailed to ‘welcome’ the far-right politicians gathering in Koblenz.

Pascal Vollenweider, Avaaz Campaign Director said: “Far-right leaders are cloaking themselves in our flags to cover up old fascist ideas that won't solve our problems. Last time this led to Holocaust and war, and now, in this battle for the soul of Europe, a movement is rising against them.”
